Sometimes I get the emotions attached to old memories start to invade my daily thought patterns. It used to affect my lifestyle a lot more than now, so it is good to be at a point in my life where I can recognize these emotions for what they are–outside of myself. So many emotions were tied to painful experiences in recent years. So many times I would come to points of desperation and cry out to God for relief. When I had my darkest times it was so important to know that somebody out there loved me.

My trials are given to build strength in me, a result of sin being present on the earth, but do not have to destroy me. With every sorrow, there is a greater comfort and love waiting to embrace me. I do not have to be broken for long. His love restores me to wholeness.

On days like today, this song brings comfort to my soul.
